Sunsets, baths, stickers and bliss

A Deer Cottage has been ticking along nicely over the last month or two. I seem to enjoy everything about this hospitality gig, but it hasn't been without having support, guidance, and help from special friends and family along the way. My number one support goes without saying, my adoring husband Te Kani. At the moment, he is looking after A Deer Cottage, while I am in Wellington. I am so impressed that he is juggling not only his busy day job, but also running our own household, and getting A Deer Cottage ready for guests arriving in a few days. On top of this, cleaning up after having guests reside for a four day stay. Te Kani has absolutely followed the directive, washed, ironed and changed sheets, cleaned, polished, dusted and vacuumed! He even sent me a photo of dressing the bed, all ready to go.

Having A Deer Cottage, gives me much pleasure, I love thinking about what I can do to make your experience all the more enjoyable. I believe the finer touches can make all the difference. Recently, I had to order some more little stickers with my logo on. I use these stickers for all sorts of reasons, from wrapping a home made gift, to reassuring my new guests that the toilet roll has never been used before.

I used the company StickerDot, an online custom sticker printing service in New Zealand. They are a one-stop shop for custom stickers. You can visit their website to find out more about their wonderful product range, inclusive of labels, business cards, swing tags, and so much more. Their vinyl stickers are ideal for perfumes, candles, frozen goods, cosmetics etc. I decided to purchase bumper (PVC gloss) stickers from StickerDot, as they are known for their durability for outdoor use, I thought they will be perfect as a car sticker. They are made from a waterproof and UV protected material, and can last up to 3 - 5 years. Ideal for what I need, a perfect fit!

I was very impressed when my bumper stickers parcel turned up, I received them promptly, all within a few days of ordering. My communication with StickerDot was done remotely and without any hassle at all. I found the team to be very friendly, efficient, and prompt with all of our communication, the colours and printing on the stickers are a very close match to the artwork I sent them, I really couldn't be happier! Thank you StickerDot! 🦌❤️🦌.

One of A Deer Cottage's special reasons to stay are the magnificent sunsets, the location is just a few kilometres from the little Kaukapakapa township, a sleepy little town with a school, a dairy and Shark n Tatties, the local fish and chip shop. Once you come up the hill and around a few bends, the gorgeous view hits you, and you leave all your worries behind. Every day, a new vista greets you, we never tire with the outlook, be it a misty morning, or a sky on fire. Check out some of my favourite scenes.

Recently, my blogs have had a project kind of theme to them, especially now that Te Kani and I are going to be grandparents. For the last few months, I have been busy stitching, sewing, and sending little parcels over to Japan. However, I have also spent a bit of time with garden themed projects. I found a couple of 70's handbasins, and an even older copper toilet cistern, (I love the way copper ages), an old watering can, and planted them up with bright red geraniums and lovely yellow pansies. I had a friend of mine - thanks Andy make me a couple of Flamingo, which I planted up in bright pink ice plants. I think all the extra garden art make a welcome addition to our garden.

We also had lying around an old round metal pole, I thought we needed a hand rail by our railway sleeper steps, that are on a bit of a steep incline, so Kani and I concreted in some posts, and used the metal pole as a handrail. Once again, I am happy with the end result, and especially the team effort!

We have also been lucky enough to have been given a portable califont, (a tankless on demand gas powered water heater) thanks Graeme! we put this to great use, and connected it up to heat the water continuously for the outdoor bath, a much quicker and easier option than what we previously used to heat the bath water. I decided to titivate it up, and added some pretty copper artwork, to blend in with all the other copper in this gorgeous little "bath haven". the plants are growing nicely now, and gives the area more character.

I hope you all are enjoying the Autumn weather, it has been fairly mild in Kaukapakapa, however we have just had some very turbulent, windy and wet few days, our latest guests had this weather to put up with, but still left with a smile on their faces.

Anyway, until next time, I hope you have a happy month from us all at A Deer Cottage 🦌❤️🦌
