Welcoming guests is a true pleasure for me, I love it when our guests find solace in its embrace, the cottage has become a haven of warmth and serenity. Fun and Joyful Escapes: Waitangi, Bland Bay, Shell Collecting and Beach Walks
In the midst of life's twists and turns, we've indulged in moments of sheer delight. Visiting Friedrich Hundertwasser's amazing gallery in Whangarei and exploring the historic grounds of Waitangi with our friend Mariko, we delved into the rich tapestry of New Zealand's heritage, making memories that will echo through the years. Taking a ferry over to Russell , it was pretty cool to check out an inquisitive Weka at the Flagstaff Hill Historic Reserve.
The recent breaks at Bland Bay, reminiscent of my grandparents' and my late Mum's haven, served as a reminder of the beauty in simplicity. Collecting shells from the pristine shores of Bland Bay became a whimsical adventure, each shell a token of serenity gathered from the embrace of the ocean, with this I decided to hold a heartwarming seashell collecting competition. Sisters, husband's, great niece, and nephew alike joined in the joyous event. Mariko, with her discerning eye, chose her favouritesâa piece of our coastal paradise to accompany her on her journey, as we bid farewell for her return to Japan this morning. It was a truly lovely time, creating memories that I am sure will linger in all of our hearts.
Macy, our faithful companion, has been our partner in joy, accompanying us on countless beach walks. The rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the shore and the feel of sand beneath our feet have been therapeutic, grounding us in the present moment. Bland Bay is a very special place where memories are made, and it feels pretty amazing to be able to share this special place with friends & family.
Exciting News on the Horizon: A New Addition to the Family
Amidst the ebb and flow of life's journey, there's a beacon of joy on the horizon. In April, we eagerly anticipate the arrival of a new family member as my daughter is expecting a baby. This will not only bring excitement to our home but will also be a source of joy for our granddaughter in Japan, welcoming a new cousin into the world. The prospect of a new life adds a touch of sweetness to the challenges we've faced, reminding us that in every loss, there's the promise of new beginnings.
