A December to Remember at A Deer Cottage

Hello dear friends and guests 🦌❤️🦌

I hope this blog post finds you well and filled with the warmth of the holiday season. December has been an extraordinary month for us here at A Deer Cottage, and I'm thrilled to share some of the highlights with you.

Celebrating Love Down Under: The month kicked off with a journey to Australia to celebrate our eldest daughter's wedding and witness the joyous moment of her baby scan. Being there for such significant milestones brought immeasurable happiness to our hearts.

Farewell to a Friend: As life brings new beginnings, it also marks farewells. This December, we bid farewell to our dear friend Annie, who played a crucial role in helping edit content for our YouTube channel. Her presence will be missed, but her contributions will always be cherished. To watch our channel click here

Home for the Holidays: Back at A Deer Cottage, we embraced the festive spirit by adorning our home with Christmas decorations. The air was filled with the aroma of tradition as we baked the Christmas cake, following the cherished recipe passed down from my Grandmother – a recipe that has graced family wedding and Christmas celebrations for generations, every year I soak the fruit in a bottle of spiced rum on the 22nd of October, the anniversary of my mothers passing. Alongside baking the Christmas cake I started a new family tradition by bottling my home made Umeshu, a Japanese plum wine, that had also been soaking since November last year, a perfect little gift that I am able to share. I completed little Pearl, a hand knitted bunny complete with a tiny jumpsuit, dress and socks to gift to our grand daughter, I hope she will cherish her for many years.

Family Reunions: Anticipation filled the air as we awaited the arrival of our son, his wife, and our precious baby granddaughter from Japan. The joy of being together for Christmas is a gift beyond compare, and our hearts are brimming with excitement.

New Beginnings with Shiatsu: A significant addition to A Deer Cottage this month was the arrival of our Shiatsu room. We are busy preparing the space for practicing Shiatsu, embracing a new chapter in our journey.

Feathered Friends and Furry Guests: Nature bestowed its gifts upon us as new baby chicks joined our family. Our bed and breakfast A Deer Cottage had guests from the United Kingdom, visiting their grandson in New Zealand, which brought an international touch to A Deer Cottage, they became part of our extended family during their month-long stay. Wild Adventures at Auckland Zoo: Boxing Day brought us to the Auckland Zoo, a day filled with laughter, learning, and connecting with the wonders of the animal kingdom. It was a delightful escape into nature's embrace.

As December draws to a close, we want to express our gratitude to each and every one of you who has been a part of our journey this year. Your presence has added meaning to our days, and we look forward to creating more cherished memories together in the coming year.

Wishing you all a joyous New Year filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. May 2024 bring you prosperity and happiness.

With warmest regards,

Angela & Te Kani 🦌❤️🦌
