Hiya again from A Deer Cottage's Bed and Breakfast in beautiful Kaukapakapa! As July comes to a close, we reflect on the delightful experiences and hard work that have made this month special. Nestled in the scenic surroundings of Auckland, overlooking the stunning Kaipara Harbour, our B&B has been a hub of activity and rejuvenation. Here’s a glimpse of what we've been up to:

Welcoming Familiar Faces

Returning to New Zealand has been a heartwarming experience, made even more special by the arrival of our returning guests. It’s always a joy to see familiar faces and catch up with old friends who have become like family to us. Their stories, laughter, and appreciation for our little haven have filled A Deer Cottage with warmth and happiness.

Refreshing Our Spa and Swimming Pool

Maintaining a pristine environment for our guests is a top priority. This month, we dedicated time to cleaning both our spa pool and swimming pool. With sparkling waters and inviting warmth from the spa, these rejuvenating spots are ready for guests to relax and unwind after a day of exploring or simply enjoying the serene surroundings of our property.

Enhancing Our Scenic Views

One of the highlights of staying at A Deer Cottage is the breathtaking view of the Kaipara Harbour. To maximise this natural beauty, we undertook the task of cutting back the hedge. This effort has opened up the vista, allowing our guests to fully appreciate the expansive and tranquil waters of the harbour. The reward? Stunning, unobstructed views that are perfect for enjoying the magnificent sunsets.

Embracing Nature: Bonsai and Roses

Our love for gardening took centre stage this month as we planted a Pōhutukawa – the iconic New Zealand Christmas tree – as a bonsai. This miniature tree, with its vibrant red blooms, adds a touch of festive charm and cultural significance to our garden. Alongside it, we planted a few roses, whose delicate beauty and fragrance bring a touch of elegance to the landscape.

Winter Clean Up

With winter in full swing, we took the opportunity to give A Deer Cottage a clean up. From tidying up the grounds to ensuring all amenities are in top condition, our efforts are aimed at providing the best possible experience for our guests. Clean and well lit pathways, well maintained facilities, and cosy interiors await those seeking a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We haven't finished yet, we still have to give the outdoor bath area a scrub up, but it is certainly on our list of things to do!

Magnificent Sunsets

As always, the sunsets over the Kaipara Harbour have been nothing short of spectacular. Each evening when the sky transforms into a canvas of vibrant hues, offering a breathtaking display this never ceases to amaze. Guests have relished these moments, capturing memories and finding tranquility in the natural beauty that surrounds them here at A Deer Cottage.
