From Waterfalls to Wineries: A perfect Spring getaway at A Deer Cottage

Spring is springing ...I wonder what Jonathan our Seagull thinks of all the fuss?

Spring has finally sprung here in Kaukapakapa, and we couldn’t be happier. The days are longer, the blossoms are out, and it’s the perfect time to get out and about. One of our favourites is The Hunting Lodge – a beautiful vineyard with delicious food and wine. Whether you’re after a lazy lunch or something a bit more special, it’s a wonderful spot to treat yourself. The Hunting Lodge provides boutique wines, local craft beers all set on an 80-acre estate and just 20 minutes from A Deer Cottage, use the link here to find out more about The Hunting Lodge.

If you love the smell of fresh bread (who doesn’t?), pop into The Bread Project, at 103 Mill Road, Helensville. You can pick up something warm from the oven, and the sweet treats are pretty spectacular as well, once done you can pop over the road and visit the Helensville Te Awaroa Museum, at 98 Mill Road, to find out more about our local area and our Museum, use the link here

For something truly unique, there’s Gibbs Farm. It’s not your everyday farm – it’s an incredible open-air art gallery with giant sculptures scattered across rolling hills. It’s only open on set days, so a little planning ahead is needed, but trust me, it’s worth it. Nature lovers will enjoy a wander to Omeru Falls. It’s a short walk through native bush that leads to stunning waterfalls – the sound of rushing water and native birdsong is just magic, all this peace and tranquility and just over the road is.............

Waterfall Farm. It’s a gorgeous local venue for a Wedding or Special Event, surrounded by nature, perfect for creating lasting memories. And last but not least, we have to mention Shed 16, our newly renovated Kaukapakapa Pub, just a few minutes down the road from A Deer Cottage, you can pop down to Shed 16, have a meal, watch a rugby game, enjoy a pint, and come back to A Deer Cottage to chill out, use the link here to find out more about Shed 16.

Of course, after a day out, nothing beats coming back to the peace and quiet of A Deer Cottage. Sit outside in your private little courtyard with a cuppa, or a glass of wine, watch the birds flit about, and just soak up the calm. Our little corner of the world is all about slowing down, recharging, and enjoying the simple things.

We offer a gorgeous outdoor bath, set in a private little tucked away haven, while further down the property, a work in progress, our pond area and reading nook.
